From the TPMG Foodie event, spinach pasta, roasted beets, mushrooms, basil and garlic. SO GOOD. I'm not a huge beet fan but these beets were nice and sweet and rustic at the same time. Going to try to make this dish on my own.

Movember
Being silly again. Check out www.movember.com to join the movement. I think I'm liking the handlebar mustache the best so far :) Where's Tom Selleck when you need him???
Thanks to Chris for shooting it!

Pommies Apple Cider
So I saw this nifty little trick in a food styling book about faking cold drinks. Simply spray the glass with a white corn syrup/water mixture to create condensation on the glass. I think it turned out pretty well with a few improvements for next time.
Also, strongbow is out, pommies is IN!. YUM! My addiction to ciders continues...

Happy Thanksgiving Colours - Homer Watson Park
When I went up to Algonquin the other week to capture the fall colours I was so excited. Having never been to Algonquin before (ya, I don't know how that happens) I had great images in mind like the one above. However, the clsoer I got to the park, the dark the clouds got and then came the rain. I still enjoyed hiking around the trails and being in the park. Since I didn't quite get the shot I was looking for I'll just amagine that this was what it looked like while I was there. Cudos to Martello Studio for capturing this scene.

Onion & Walnut Bread
I made a recent visit to a new local bakery, Cliffside Hearth. Just off Kingston Rd in Scarborough this neat little place has some amazing finds. Breads, pizzas, cookies and much more. Captured above is their onion walnut bread/loaf. YUM! This bread would be great with soup or stew or just slather on the butter :)

The Nikon 10.5mm Fisheye
I recently got to test out Nikon's version of the fisheye lens. I'd always thought the idea of them was cool and it was mainly a one trick pony lens. And at $700 new, something that I could probably never justify buying. But now having used it for landscape, portrait and macro, I can say it's much more than a silly lens to make dogs faces look funny. The optics on this lens are great. Really sharp and wonderful color. It did have a bit of a learning curve to it. You really have to get down on the ground, get in close to certain things and make sure you take time to compose in camera. It's all about bending the scene to amplify it's best features. I have yet to try the other versions of this lens but wonder if the quality that Nikon produces is worth the cash. Lets do a comparison...
Nikon $750
Sigma $$799
OPTEKA $349
Tokina $789
Lens Baby $279
I have yet to try any of the other ones. But the lens baby does seem like a viable option money wise. My goal for a lens right now is the Nikon 24-70. But should a Nikon come up used and a good price I might have to think about it. Have you tried any of the above lenses? Leave your recommendations below.
Here are two examples of the Nikon version, including my previous post of Little Cove in Tobermory.

Ms Kimi at the Park
Not a food photo in sight this weekend. The weather was wonderful in Ontario so it was off to the park for a run and a hunt for trillium's. My only good photo's lately are of the dog, so here she is in all her glory :)

Pancakes With Honey
Shrove Tuesday is coming up and I couldn't resist having "Pancake Tuesday" a little early. Most people enjoy maple syrup or Aunt Jamima but I always go for the honey. You'll find more shots on my flickr!
